I'm Dcn Greg Garnie
Deacon Greg Garnie is a Permanent Deacon incardinated into the Archdiocese of Johannesburg, South Africa. He is the past Vice-President of the International Diaconate Centre a position he held from June 2013 to September 2017.
Greg was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate in the Archdiocese of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe on 2nd April 2005. His assigned specialized ministry was the on-going formation of adults in the Archdiocese as well as parish duties that included teaching pre-confirmation, instructing adults (RCIA), training scripture readers and youth advisor together with his wife.
In the Archdiocese of Johannesburg his special ministry, in his Parish, continues to focus on adult formation. He developed the ‘Time Out For Growth’ Lenten talks specifically targeted at adults. He gives at least three talks a year on the Spirituality of Marriage and Family Life to those preparing for marriage and has oversight of the Catechetical programme of his parish. He is also the chaplain of the Knights of Da Gama, Council 11.
Greg currently serves on the Board of Deacons (Johannesburg) which, inter alia, is responsible for the Diaconate Programme of the Archdiocese. He lectures aspirants to the diaconate specifically on diaconal spirituality and the origin, demise & restoration of the deacon.
