Please see our Write-On eBookstore Terms and Conditions for authors for our royalties. We take a 10% handling fee on Royalties from Amazon. As you will deal directly with Takealot’s Logistics provider, Print On Demand, we do not receive royalties from them.
Absolutely. Both SA Catholic Online Books and Our Printers, Print On Demand, keep your book files, and you can get additional copies at any time, even years after your first printing (subject to an updated quote).
Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) – Amazon Print-On-Demand and Kindle eBooks, Takealot South Africa, and Write-On eBookstore. Other platforms like Ingram Sparks, Smashwords, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, iBooks are also possible, at a fee. At the Write-On Cluster, we can help new authors self-publish their books.
Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) – Amazon No. It is fully optional and will form part of your quote. You will be asked to sign a basic Distribution Agreement before Upload to Write-On eBookStore.
We ask for a 50% Deposit prior to beginning work on your book, with the balance payable on completion of Print-Ready Material. Payment for any printed books is strictly in advance.
You can get a progress report on your book upon request. Sales reports for Write-On eBookStore are provided monthly.
We only work on a contract basis if you request it.
We prefer all manuscripts to be submitted in a Microsoft Word document. However, we will accept a wide range of other document types. PDFs, RTFs, ODTs or InDesign files. However, some of these file types may cost an additional fee due to the added work needed to convert them.
If you are purchasing print formatting, you’ll receive a PDF formatted for Print On Demand standards. If you are ordering an eBook, you will receive both an ePub file for eReader devices , and/or an interactive PDF file. A Kindle Create file (.kpf) can also be supplied, if requested.
The entire process usually takes 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the complexity of the manuscript, and the formatting required (ie if large numbers of pictures are required)
We understand that often, there are going to be corrections which authors, editors, and publishers require to be made to their text. We include free formatting/layout/design revisions with all of our formatting packages until you’re 100% satisfied.
However, you will only receive 10 free edits for changes to text, headings, errors or typos which aren’t related to the formatting and layout process. After this, edits, or “author’s corrections” will be charged for.
Of course! Your files are your own property! We provide an “author’s copies” print facility as a service to our customers, based on a quote, but you are not required to use our service. Just let us know what your printer’s specific requirements are before ordering, and we’ll be able to deliver you with a print-ready file.
Yes, we will, almost inevitably. However, we will always use the “track changes” function in Word. It’s up to the author to check the changes made by the editor and either accept or reject those changes.
Yes, of course! All graphics should be Jpegs or PNGs, and should ideally be a minimum of 300 dpi, but we pride ourselves on our ability to digitally manipulate and improve pictures, especially very old photos, so do not be too concerned about the quality of the pictures you provide. It is important to note where in the manuscript each picture must be placed, and to provide captions.
Yes, you do. Once the work is completed, you have no contractual obligations to, apart from those you have agreed to, like uploading your eBook to our platform. Even then, we do not have exclusivity, and you are free to take your book anywhere you like.
